Mirandah leaning into the engine bay of a BMW with a work light clipped to the hood

Mobile mechanic · Woman-owned · Greater Toronto Area

The shop comes to your driveway.

I'm Mirandah. I fix cars where they sit — your driveway, your parking spot, the lot behind your work. No tow truck, no drop-off, no waiting room TV. And if you've got nowhere to do it, you can bring the car to me in North York instead.

What I fix

Most repairs don't need a hoist.

All makes and models — domestic, Japanese, Korean, European. If it can be done safely on jack stands on level ground, I can do it at your place.

Brakes

Pads, rotors, calipers, seized slide pins, and the hardware most shops leave in the box. Front or rear axle, usually done in about two hours.

from $160 labour

Cooling system

Thermostats, water pumps, radiators, expansion tanks. If your car is past 150,000 km, this is the plastic that gives up first — usually in traffic, in July.

from $140 labour

No-start diagnosis

Battery, starter, alternator, grounds, no-crank wiring faults. I find out why before anybody buys a part.

$90 diagnostic

Pre-purchase inspection

Before you hand cash to a Marketplace seller: fluids, brakes, suspension, rust, fault codes, and a straight verdict on whether to walk away.

$120 flat

Oil changes & fluids

Oil changes with filter, plus coolant, brake fluid, differential and transfer case. Correct spec for your engine, not whatever was on sale.

from $70 labour

Spark plugs & ignition

Plugs, coils, and the rough idle or misfire that comes with them. Gapped to spec and torqued properly — overtightened plugs are how you end up needing a head.

from $90 labour

Coolant hose replacement

Upper, lower, heater and bleed hoses. Swapped, refilled and burped so there's no air pocket left to overheat you two weeks later.

from $120 labour

Suspension & steering

Control arms, tie rods, sway bar links, wheel bearings, and the clunk you've been turning the radio up to ignore.

from $150 labour

Check-engine scan

Codes pulled and explained in plain language, with what it actually costs to fix. Free if I do the repair.

$60

Parts, at a price that makes sense

I source cheap parts for all makes and models.

Dealer counters mark up the same box three times over. I know where to get quality parts for a fraction of that — domestic, Japanese, Korean, European — and I pass the price straight through to you. Bringing your own is fine too.

Not booking a repair? You can order parts from me on their own, delivered. See how that works ↓

Prices above are labour only. Parts get quoted separately before I start, so you always see the two numbers apart. Big jobs — engines, transmissions, anything needing a lift — I'll tell you straight and point you somewhere good.

  • Brake pads, rotors & hardware
  • Spark plugs, coils & filters
  • Hoses, thermostats & water pumps
  • Batteries, starters & alternators
  • Control arms, links & bearings
  • Oil, coolant & brake fluid to spec

Parts only · no repair needed

Just need the part? I'll order it and deliver it.

Doing the job yourself, or have your own guy doing it? You can still use me for the parts. Send your VIN and what you need, and it shows up at your door.

Send

Your VIN and the part

Text me the VIN plus what you're after. No VIN handy? Year, make, model and engine works too — it just takes an extra question or two.

Get

A price, before anything is ordered

I'll come back with the part, the brand, and what it costs delivered. You say go, or you don't. Nothing gets ordered until you do.

Receive

Delivered to your door

Dropped off across the GTA, or picked up in North York if that's easier. If you'd rather I install it while I'm there, just say so.

Why the VIN? It locks in your exact build — engine, chassis, options, production date. Two cars that look identical from the outside can take different parts, and the VIN is how you avoid opening a box that doesn't fit.

Find it on the driver's door jamb sticker, at the bottom corner of the windshield on the driver's side, or on your insurance slip and ownership.

Real jobs · my own tools, my own hands

This is what the work looks like.

Not stock photos. These are jobs finished on driveways and in parking spots around the GTA.

A BMW with the hood up in an underground parking garage, tools and a mat laid out on the floor
Level P2, underground parking — hood up, mat down, tools on the ground. No bay, no hoist, no drop-off.
Engine bay with ignition coils removed and spark plugs exposed
Spark plugs & coils — coils pulled, six plugs out, new ones gapped and torqued to spec instead of guessed at.
New front brake pads installed in a cleaned caliper bracket
Front brakes — new pads seated, slide pins cleaned and greased, hardware replaced.
Brake rotor with the caliper removed and tools laid out on the ground
Rotor off — caliper hung, not dangled on the hose, and the hub face cleaned before anything goes back on.
Oil filter housing weeping oil from its gasket
Oil filter housing — weeping from the gasket. This is the leak people mistake for a valve cover.
A radiator removed from a car and laid on the ground with its hoses
Radiator out — hoses off, core replaced, system refilled and bled cold.
A gloved hand disconnecting a coolant hose at the engine
Coolant hose — the brittle one that splits and dumps the whole system in a parking lot.
Ignition coil harness laid back across a BMW engine with the coolant expansion tank in view
Coil harness laid back — everything unclipped in order so it goes back exactly the way it came off.
Close-up of the Entluftung bleed screw on a BMW coolant expansion tank
Entlüftung — the bleed screw, cracked open while the system fills so trapped air escapes instead of cooking a head gasket.

How it works

Four steps, no surprises.

Step 01

Text me

Year, make, model, and what it's doing. A photo or a video of the noise helps more than you'd think.

Step 02

Get the quote

Parts and labour listed separately, before I drive out. If I'm not the right fix for it, I'll say so.

Step 03

I come to you

Driveway, parking spot, or the lot at work. I need level ground and about ten feet of room — and if you don't have anywhere, you can come to me instead.

Step 04

Pay when it's done

E-transfer or cash once the car is back on the ground and you've seen it run. Receipt by text.

Mirandah, owner of Mama Motors

Who's under your hood

I'm a mother of five who learned this on my own cars, at night, with a flashlight in my teeth.

Mama Motors started because I was tired of being talked down to at the counter, quoted double, and handed back a car with the same noise it came in with. So I bought the tools and learned to do it myself — first on my own BMW, then for friends, then for whoever needed it.

What you get is somebody who explains the repair before doing it, shows you the old part, and doesn't charge you for work your car didn't need. If you want to stand there and ask questions the whole time, good. I'd rather you understand your car than depend on me.

Where I go

Based in North York. Working across the GTA.

Anywhere on this list is a normal callout. Outside of it, ask anyway — a small travel fee usually makes it work.

No driveway? No problem. Plenty of people live in a building with no visitor parking, or a spot too tight to work in. If that's you, bring the car to me in North York instead — text me and I'll give you a time and the address.

Book a callout

Tell me what it's doing.

Text is fastest. Send the year, make, model and the symptom, and you'll get a real quote back — not a "bring it in and we'll see." No spot to work in? Say so, and you can come to me in North York.
